Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Ornaments

Prepare and Decorate the Plastic Cups- Using your permanent markers (we used Posca acrylic paint pens ) to color your cup. Make sure to color the bottom of the cup as this will be the largest part of your ornament. Go crazy and have fun!!20241130 194444 scaled

  1. While your family or friends are decorating their cups, prepare for the shrinking. Place a layer of Parchment Paper on a baking sheet and preheat the oven to 350°.
  2. After the cups are all decorated and ready for “shrinking” , place them upside down on the parchment paper so the bottom of the cup is facing up.
  3. Turn on your oven light, place your baking sheet in the oven, and watch as your plastic cups shrink in just a few minutes.
  4. Once your ornaments are done, if you need, take a metal spatula and push down to flatten out any lumps or bumps. 20241130 195004 scaled
  5. Next, time to hole punch or drill your hanging hole! I wasn’t quite strong enough to utilize the hole puncher so my husband used a drill and it worked great! 20241130 195934 scaled
  6. Next, pick your ribbon or string, loop it through the hole and you’re DONE!
