Unforgettable 4-Day Family Trip to San Antonio, Texas

Looking for an affordable getaway that combines history, adventure, and family fun? Our recent four-day trip to San Antonio, Texas, was all that and more! From exploring the iconic Alamo to the thrills of Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the natural beauty of the Natural Bridge Caverns, this trip had something for everyone. Here’s our itinerary, complete with tips to help you plan your own unforgettable adventure!

Where We Stayed: The Historic Davy Crockett Hotel

We chose the Davy Crockett Hotel for its perfect location and historical charm. It is just short walk away from the Alamo and the River Walk, this hotel offered the ideal blend of modern convenience and a deep connection to San Antonio’s historical heritage.

The family-friendly atmosphere, cozy accommodations, and delicious on-site dining made it a great base for our adventures. Plus, being so close to the River Walk meant we could easily explore nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions without needing transportation.

Tip: Book early to snag deals on this popular hotel, especially during peak travel seasons.

Holiday Inn Express

We spent the last two days at the Holiday In Express due to it’s location and price. My husband really didn’t want to spend all day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and then drive 45 minutes to the hotel. This hotel is only 10 minutes from Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and only a 30 minute drive to the Natural Caverns.

Day 1: A Journey Through History at the Alamo

Our trip began with a visit to the Alamo, one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Texas. Walking through the grounds and going into the church we felt a connection to the past.

Interactive Exhibits: The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum featured fascinating artifacts, including Santa Anna’s sword and personal belongings of the defenders.

Family Lessons: Our daughter was inspired by stories of courage, which sparked meaningful conversations about history and values.

Phil Collins’ Collection: Did you know the legendary musician donated an extensive collection of Alamo artifacts? It was a delightful surprise!

Why Visit: The Alamo offers more than a history lesson—it’s an emotional journey that fosters appreciation for freedom and perseverance.
